Fort York Visitors Centre
Toronto, Canada
The Fort York Visitors Centre is located adjacent to the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto in the Fort York neighbourhood, and serves as the welcome centre for visitors at the historic site. The design by Patkau Architects features a long, linear massing along the site’s edge, corten steel panels, and a partly buried exhibition space. Recently, the Bentway public spaces beneath the Gardiner expressway have animated the space at the foreground of the visitors centre with an open air performance space and winter skating loop.
We were a part of the consultant team to the City of Toronto to advise and organize the design competition, and assist with the short listing of the competition entries.
